Utensils

10.11.10

It was a typical night at the Burgeson home. Clark, Ava, and I were sitting down eating dinner when we discovered Ava's next milestone. You guessed it, utensils. I was attempting to feed her maccoroni & cheese with a plastic fork, but she was a little distracted. Appearantly, Clark and I were discussing something that engaged my attention for a moment. The next thing I knew when I turned my head to help Ava she had taken the fork off her tray and was holding it in her little hand eating the maccoroni. I couldn't believe it! Clark and I looked at each other and said, "Yea"! She started clapping. So, we gave her another shot at it. Filled up her fork, handed it to her, and she proudly placed it in her mouth. Again, we praised her and she clapped. (That was comical.)

We are excited to report she is now able to feed herself with utensils! What a great milestone. A small one but big one! Now, for those of you who are veteran moms I'm sure your kids were eating with utensils at eight months ... BUT we first-time moms don't always know when to let them fend for themselves. I'm sure by the 2nd or 3rd child ... they too will be eating on their own at eight months. ;)

That's the excitement for this week. We continue to grow and change!!
